Paracetamol 500mg/5ml oral suspension sugar free

Following Rosemont Pharmaceuticals’ recent launch of a licensed preparation of Paracetamol 500mg/5ml oral suspension sugar free, the Department of Health and PSNC have agreed that it will be removed from Part VIIIB and listed as a Part VIIIA Category C line.  This will be reflected in the December 2012 Drug Tariff.

Reimbursement for prescriptions submitted in December will be based upon the Part VIIIA price.

Contractors are reminded of the professional requirement that when a product is ordered on a prescription, a pharmacist must supply a product with a marketing authorisation, where available, in preference to an unlicensed medicine.
