Flu Pandemic Continuity Planning

17 April 2008

Building on the general service continuity guidance already issued, this guidance provides questions for use to assess the likely impact of a pandemic on the individual pharmacy and takes a practical approach to planning for a pandemic situation so that critical operations, stores and equipment are maintained and the impact of the pandemic minimized. As major providers of healthcare, community pharmacies are likely to be in the front line during any pandemic, so it is vital that they have individual plans in place to enable essential pharmacy services to continue, with the emphasis on ensuring patient safety and the supply of medicines for those with long term conditions. This document has been produced jointly with other Pharmacy Bodies.
