Non-Executive Chair

Sue Killen
Sue took up her post as non-executive Chair of PSNC on 1st September 2019. Sue is the Vice Chair and Senior Independent Director at Clarion Housing Group and Chairs Clarion Futures and the Katie Piper Foundation. During her executive career she was for 10 years the CEO of St John Ambulance and the interim CEO of the Nursing and Midwifery Council. She is a former senior civil servant who worked for a range of Government Departments including as a Director General at the Department for Transport and the Director at the Home Office responsible for leading work on tackling drug misuse. She also led an Independent review of children and young people’s palliative care for the Secretary of State for Health.

North East and Cumbria Regional Representative

David Broome, Yorkshire and the Humber Regional Representative
David Broome qualified from the University of Bath School of Pharmacy in 1990 and has been an independent contractor for nearly 20 years. He runs his pharmacy business with his wife, Jackie, and he is an active member and officer of Community Pharmacy West Yorkshire.  David has a great passion for community pharmacy with keen interests including EPS, medicines safety and clinical pharmacy. He has been involved with the EPS implementation board, medicines safety exchange, area prescribing committee and local mental health trust medicines committee. David has been an LPC member for seven years and was elected to PSNC in August 2013.

Lindsey Fairbrother, East Midlands and South Yorkshire Regional Representative
Lindsey is an independent contractor in Derbyshire and has owned her own business for more than 10 years. As an independent prescriber she also provides a travel clinic and private services. Lindsey works at the sharp end in pharmacy but also spends some of her time on LPC business, engaged by Shropshire LPC to support the Committee, and as a contractor elected to Derbyshire LPC. Lindsey has had a wide range of roles across the community pharmacy sector, including in service development and wholesale as well as a PCN lead. She has also spent time as a non-executive on the Board of South Staffordshire PCT.

Anil Sharma, East Anglia Regional Representative
Anil Sharma qualified in 1997 from John Moores University and has been a practising independent contractor for 20 years. He runs a small group of pharmacies with his wife Geeta. Anil has been an LPC member since 2006 and currently sits on two LPCs. Anil has a particular interest in travel medicine, rural pharmacies, future development of the profession and promoting young pharmacists to become independent contractors.

Bharat Patel, East Regional Representative and Vice Chair
Bharat Patel qualified from the Liverpool School of Pharmacy in 1979.  He and his wife, Urvashi, who is also a pharmacist, operate a healthcare business comprising two pharmacies, which were acquired in 1982  and 1997,  and a purpose built nursing home. In addition, Bharat works as an independent prescriber with the local doctors on a regular basis.  He has been a member of Essex LPC since 1982-2018,  having chaired the LPC for a number of years. Bharat has been  a member of PSNC since 2006. Has also been a PEC pharmacist at Castle Point & Rochford PCT for a number of years. In the past Bharat has been employed by South Essex  Health Authority as a pharmacy facilitator. Bharat was elected to the NPA board in 2007, was appointed Vice Chair in April 2010  and became Chair  in April 2011.

Sunil Kochhar, South East Coast Regional Representative
Sunil K. Kochhar is a consultant pharmacist for the online patient information platform, www.dearPHARMACIST.info. He has over 20 years’ hands-on experience of helping local communities improve their health and wellbeing through educational events, screening services and innovative methods, resulting in great health and wellbeing outcomes. Within all his work, Sunil has demonstrated that marketing is an essential part of gaining public engagement to enhance their health and wellbeing. His current work and activity aims to unite pharmacy as a profession through conversations with his online forum platform, www.pharmacyTALK.co.uk

Gary Warner is an active community pharmacist, working both in his own practices and with the CCG locally together with his representative roles at the LPC and PSNC, to which he was first elected in June 2005. He is a managing partner in Pinnacle Health Partnership which is championing the development of the roles of community pharmacists and embedding those roles within patient care pathways. Gary qualified as an independent prescriber in 2008, specialising in the treatment of substance misuse, and is Chair of the Service Development Subcommittee of  PSNC. Gary was part of the team that won the Silver Medal at the Chief Medical Officer’s Awards in 2010, a finalist at the Pharmaceutical Care Awards in 2012, and he remains a proud advocate of all that pharmacy can do for patients and commissioners.

Sian Retallick, South Western Regional Representative
Sian Retallick was born in South Wales, graduated from Bradford University in 1984 and settled in the South West in 1986. Sian has worked in Community Pharmacy for the past 34 years , owning her own business since 1991. Having served on the Devon LPC she is looking forward to her additional role as the PSNC Representative for the South West.

Jas heer croppedJas Heer, West Midlands Regional Representative
Jas Heer qualified as a pharmacist in 1987 after studying at Leicester School of Pharmacy and currently owns and operates a small group of pharmacies in Coventry and Birmingham. He obtained a Diploma in Clinical pharmacy in 2000 and has worked for independents and multiples, covering both field and centre based functions. Jas was elected onto Coventry LPC in 2011 and joined the PSNC in 2016 where he is a member of the LPC Implementation Support Subcommittee.

Dr Ian Cubbin qualified from the Sunderland School of Pharmacy 1980 after which he joined the family firm before going on to read his doctorate jointly at the University of Newcastle  upon Tyne and the University of Sunderland. Previous roles have included a role as a teacher practitioner at John Moores University and Ian is currently Managing Director of James Cubbin & Son,  operating five pharmacies in the Wirral. As well as being a PSNC member, Ian is a member of the Board of Assessors  for the GPhC and an NPA Board Member.

Fin mccaulFin McCaul, North West Regional Representative
Fin graduated from the Liverpool School of Pharmacy in 1986 and is Managing Director of Prestwich Pharmacy in Manchester. Fin was a past founder and Chair of the Independent Pharmacy Federation and now works alongside the NPA board where his role continues to promote the benefits of independent pharmacy whilst supporting their members. Fin has worked with a variety of public health groups and is currently the Long Term Conditions Lead for Bury CCG, working with GPs, other primary care providers and secondary care providers. Fin also speaks and delivers training at local and national events on smoking cessation, weight loss, professional development and change management. Fin was awarded fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in 2016 for his service to pharmacy.

Community Pharmacy Wales Representative

Mark GriffithsMark Griffiths
After further studies at Manchester, Mark Griffiths took his first pharmacy manager’s job at NCC in Brynmawr, South Wales until 1987. He then locumed throughout South Wales until 1992 when he accepted a job with Sheppards Chemists in Aberdare. In 1997 Mark left the company to start Dowlais Pharmacy with his business partner Tim Owen; they now have 3 branches. Mark started the pharmacy support group Cambrian Alliance with five other pharmacists in 2000 and has been chair since its formation. He was elected to Community Pharmacy Wales in 2007 and on to the Board in 2011, and he has been a member of PSNC since 2011.

Company Chemists Association (CCA) Representatives

Faisal TuddyFaisal Tuddy, Asda Pharmacy
Faisal qualified as a pharmacist in 1997 and has since then spent more than twenty years working in a variety of roles in community pharmacy. This included as a community pharmacist and store manager, and then working at Asda initially as an pharmacist before moving into head office roles. Faisal is currently superintendent pharmacist at Asda, overseeing the work of the supermarket’s 255 pharmacies. He has experience as an LPC Member and a particular interest in patient safety.

Marc Donovan, Boots Pharmacy
Marc has a career in healthcare spanning 20 years. Originally training as a pharmacist at Cardiff University, he has progressed through a number of senior clinical and managerial positions within Boots UK to his current role as Superintendent Pharmacist, accountable for the professional standards and development for 6000 pharmacists, and 18000 healthcare colleagues. He has previously led the Human Resources team for Healthcare across Boots UK, Boots Opticians and Boots Ireland, as well as worked as a prescribing advisor to the Vale of Glamorgan Local Health Board and was one of the first supplementary prescribers to practice in Wales. He is a non-medical independent prescriber where he specialises in the management of cardiovascular disease and medicines management. Marc is also currently a member of Community Pharmacy Wales and a Fellow of the Faculty of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. He obtained Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in 2014.

Tricia Kennerley, Boots Pharmacy
Tricia a qualified pharmacits joined Moss Chemist in 1995, known now as Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) where she has held several senior positions and was appointed Managing Director of Alliance Pharmacy in 2007 and subsequently became Healthcare Development Director for Boots. Today she leads the International Public Affairs function for WBA, influencing pharmacy and healthcare policy, working with key stakeholders across governments and healthcare policy leaders as well as pharmaceutical manufacturers. She is responsible for the development of pharmacy service agenda across Boots UK, Alliance Healthcare Pharmaceutical Wholesale Division, including Alphega virtual pharmacy network and the Retail Pharmacy International Divison. As well as being a member of PSNC she also sits on the boards of, Company Chemist Association and Healthcare Distribution Associciation in the UK.

Roger Nichols, Boots Pharmacy
Roger qualified as a pharmacist in 1987 and has held various roles for Boots UK in stores and the support office. In his current role as Head of Pharmacy Operations he is accountable for the continued development of an efficient operating platform. He has previously sat on two LPC’s and currently sits on the Boards of the Company Chemists Association and SecurMed.

Clare KerrClare Kerr, Celesio
Clare Kerr registered as a pharmacist in 1989 having qualified from Queen’s University, Belfast. Clare has worked for Lloyds Pharmacy for over 25 years in a variety of roles progressing from pre-registration student to Pharmacy Manager and Area Manager. In 2000, Clare took on a role in service development and she went on to lead a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in the development and implementation of a wide range of services. Clare is currently Head of Healthcare Policy for McKesson UK. As well as being a member of PSNC, Clare is a board member of the CCA.

Sam Fisher, Lloyds Pharmacy
Sam Fisher studied at the Welsh School of Pharmacy in Cardiff, and registered as a pharmacist in 1997 after completion of her pre-registration placement with Lloyds Pharmacy. She then went on to successfully attain her MSc in Clinical Community Pharmacy at the Welsh School of Pharmacy before moving into more operational roles within the organisation. Sam has held several pharmacy operational roles including Area Manager and Regional Operations Manager, then latterly central roles responsible for leading key business transformation initiatives and her current role as Head of Pharmacy Affairs for McKesson UK. As well as being a board member of CCA, Sam is also Vice Chair of Community Pharmacy Wales, and a member of the ministerial advisory Welsh Pharmaceutical Committee. Sam is currently chair of the LPC and Contractor Support sub-committee at PSNC.

Ghada Beal, Lloyds Pharmacy
Ghada Beal studied at Sunderland University and registered as a pharmacist in 1996. She joined Lloyds pharmacy as Senior Head of services in September 2021, responsible for leading the agenda of NHS services and the strategy of private pharmacy services. Prior to her current role, Ghada spent 26 years in Boots UK in numerous leadership roles. Her most recent roles being Director of stores for the Flagship format and Prior to that Director of stores for the North division, leading a team of 11,000 colleagues across 1,000 stores. In celebration of 100 years of the school pharmacy, Sunderland university have asked Ghada to be featured in their communications due to her career achievements in pharmacy. Ghada is passionate about the future of pharmacy and the importance of the role of the pharmacist and how vital it is for the health and well being of the nation.

Rhys Martin, Rowlands Pharmacy
Rhys Martin studied at De Montfort University and registered as a pharmacist in 2004. He joined Rowlands Pharmacy as Head of Field Operations South in September 2019 leading a team of 1500 colleagues across 230 stores. Prior to his current role Rhys spent 16 years with Lloydspharmacy in numerous leadership roles including most recently Head of Central Operations and Head of Retail Operations. Rhys has previously represented the CCA on the pharmacy voice IT group and has experience as a LPC member. He is passionate about transforming the way pharmacy is perceived and building a strong future for the profession.

Stephen thomasStephen Thomas, Rowlands Pharmacy
Stephen qualified in 1995 and, after completing a number of roles with Boots, spent 2 years with Voluntary Services Overseas as Principal Pharmacist in Vanuatu (South Pacific). Returning to the UK in 2001 he spent 2 years working for a regional multiple in Cheshire before moving to Rowlands Pharmacy in 2003. At Rowlands, he’s held a number of roles regarding professional standards, contractual matters and external relations. Stephen’s current role as Superintendent Pharmacist consolidates this experience. Stephen has been a member of Community Pharmacy Cheshire and Wirral (and forerunners) since 2004, is a director of the CCA and is also a board member of Community Pharmacy Wales and a nominated member of the Welsh Pharmaceutical Committee.

Niamh McMillan, Superdrug Pharmacy
Niamh studied Pharmacy at Aston University in Birmingham and registered as a Pharmacist in 2013 after completion of her pre-registration training with Superdrug. Niamh has worked for Superdrug for a number of years as Pharmacy Manager, Cluster Lead, Clinical Development Manager and Regional Healthcare Manager with experience as a CCA Rep on a number of LPCs. Niamh is currently Superintendent Pharmacist for Superdrug responsible for the professional standards and team development across their 200 pharmacies. Niamh is also a board member of CCA.

Adrian PriceAdrian Price, Tesco Pharmacy
Adrian Price has been a pharmacist for over 20 years and the Superintendent Pharmacist at Tesco Stores Ltd since 2010. He started his career working in branch management for the Co-operative Group where he stayed for 13 years, working in dozens pharmacies across the North West and serving on LPCs for over 10 years. Adrian followed this with a variety of roles in the Co-op’s Head Office including Head of Governance and Head of Clinical Services. He joined PSNC in 2010 and is also a Pharmacy Voice Board Member.

Ifti Khan, Well Pharmacy
Ifti studied at De Montfort University and registered as a pharmacist in 1992. He has a career in community pharmacy spanning 30 years. He is currently the Pharmacy Superintendent at Well Pharmacy. Ifti has previously held several pharmacy professional, operational and field roles and has also worked as a locum pharmacist. Since 2008, Ifti has also represented the interests of contractors on LPCs. He is currently Vice-Chair on Greater Manchester LPC. He is also a board member of the Company Chemists Association.

National Pharmacy Association (NPA) Representatives

Reena Barai
Reena Barai qualified from London School Of Pharmacy in 1998. She spent the early part of her career as a Hospital Pharmacist. She took over running her family business, S G Barai Pharmacy in 2003. Whilst running the Pharmacy she has also enjoyed a portfolio career. Between 2004 and 2006 she worked part time for Sutton & Merton Primary Care Trust as a GP Practice Support Pharmacist. She then went on to work as local CPPE tutor between 2012 and 2015. Since 2014 she has been one of the  Community Pharmacy Leads at Sutton CCG. Reena has a diploma in Clinical Pharmacy and is an Independent Prescriber. Currently she is an NPA board member, a PCN Community Pharmacy Lead and Deputy Chair of RPS South London.

Umesh PatelUmesh Patel, MBE
Umesh Patel studied pharmacy at Sunderland University, qualifying in 1978. He opened his first pharmacy in London in 1980  and moved to Sunderland in 1990. He was Chair of the Sunderland branch of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB)  between 1995  and 1997  and is a chair of the local LPC. He was joint Vice Chair of the Border region branch of the RPSGB, an NPA nominee on the PSNC  Committee, and is chair of the PSNC’s  Review and Audit Panel. He now owns two retail pharmacies and has represented the North East region on the NPA Board since 1998. Umesh was also chair of the NPA board in 2006. Umesh was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s 2011 New Year Honours List, recognising his services to healthcare in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. In 2010 he received an Honorary Doctorate of Science from the University of Sunderland and was appointed to The Board of Governors of the University. He has also been appointed to The Board of Governors of Sunderland High School.

Peter CatteePeter Cattee, PCT Healthcare
Peter Cattee is CEO of PCT Healthcare, operating a group of pharmacies stretching through the Midlands and the North of England. He was a founder member and continues to chair the Association of Independent Multiple Pharmacies. Peter chairs PSNC’s Funding and Contract Subcommittee and is a member of PSNC’s Negotiating Team.

Has Modi, Jardines (UK) Ltd
Has Modi graduated from Aston University, and qualified as a pharmacist in 1976. He is the CEO of Jardines (UK) Ltd – a regional multiple based in Milton Keynes – which he founded in 1981. He also sits on Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire LPC.

Jay PatelJay Patel, Day Lewis Plc
Jay qualified as a pharmacist from Portsmouth University and holds an MBA. He has had several roles with his Day Lewis career over the years progressing from Pharmacist Manager, Regional Manager and Chief Innovation Officer for the group. As Executive Director at Day Lewis Plc, Jay leads the business alongside Rupa Patel and Sam Patel. He is responsible for Retail Strategy and Innovation. His vision is to essentially join up great people, with effective and professional processes, using robust technology to give patients the best possible experience and outcomes. Jay is passionate about pharmacy politics and the role the community pharmacy sector plays within the NHS. During his lifetime Jay would like to run at least one Marathon.
