#Pharmacy24 to promote pharmacy teams’ work in the pandemic

March 18, 2021

An annual social media event celebrating the work of pharmacy will this year be focusing on the sector’s contribution during the COVID-19 pandemic and on promoting diversity within the sector.

Scheduled for Wednesday 7th April 2021, #Pharmacy24 aims to capitalise on the reach and influence of social media to showcase the hard work pharmacy teams are doing to keep the public safe during the pandemic. During the 24-hour period, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other pharmacy staff are invited to promote pharmacy by sharing their work successes across all social media platforms with the hashtag #Pharmacy24.

In the past 12 months pharmacy has risen to the challenge of a global pandemic and continued to provide great care. The organisers of #Pharmacy24 are encouraging pharmacies to share their stories and they say: “This could include examples of care you provide, how the pandemic has changed your practice, the way care is now being delivered to patients and examples of our contributions to the COVID-19 vaccination programme.”

The theme for this year’s #Pharmacy24 is pharmacy in a pandemic and diversity within the profession, in particular:

  • The diversity of pharmacy’s contributions to the COVID-19 pandemic response;
  • The diversity of the pharmacy workforce;
  • The diversity of roles within the pharmacy sector; and
  • The diversity of the population pharmacies serve.

Getting involved

To help this year’s #Pharmacy24 to achieve the biggest reach ever, the organisers are asking everyone to work together to get behind this social media event.

All they ask is that as many people as possible promote their pharmacy team’s work on the day. You may wish to prepare lines, images or videos in advance but, whatever you can manage, this is the day to show everyone the value of what you do on a daily basis.

PSNC has been working with the other national pharmacy bodies to support this event. We have also created social media templates to provide inspiration and make it easier for people to join in.
