Following the Robert Francis QC report concerning lack of basic care in many of the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust’s wards and departments, a new report by Sir Robert Francis on NHS whistleblowing and the freedom to speak up was published in February 2015. The Review was set up in response to continuing disquiet about the way NHS organisations deal with concerns raised by NHS staff and the treatment of some of those who have spoken up. The Review is not a Public Inquiry and it has not been tasked with investigating or passing judgment on individual cases.

The aim of the Review is to provide advice and recommendations to ensure that NHS staff in England feel it is safe to raise concerns, confident that that they will be listened to and the concerns will be acted upon.
