PSNC has developed an animation explaining how community pharmacy will fit into the NHS of the future.
The animation not only showcases the sector to stakeholders, but also describes the transformation that community pharmacy will undertake.

Sharing the animation
LPCs and pharmacy teams are encouraged to share the animation with local commissioners, politicians, charities and patient groups but, on social media, please use the hashtag #futureofpharmacy.
Resources list
This list has been created to help contractors start working towards the four action points given at the end of the animation. We will add to the list as and when new resources become available.

1. Start a conversation with other local pharmacies about how to collaborate within PCNs
The first thing contractors and their teams need to do is understand Primary Care Networks (PCNs). PSNC Briefing 013/19: An introduction to Primary Care Networks provides an explanation for community pharmacy teams of what PCNs are and their role in the NHS.
If you are an LPC member or officer, you may find our Presentation providing an introduction to PCNs for use at contractor meeting to be useful in addressing this topic with your contractors.
2. Together with other pharmacies and your LPC, talk to local GPs about their plans for the future
PSNC recommends using the ‘Walk in my Shoes’ toolkit to bring together community pharmacy teams and GP practice teams to help each other understand their roles, improve working relationships and ultimately provide better care for their patients.

3. Take all opportunities for further training and to provide services
NHS England is funding the provision of post-registration training for community pharmacists through several universities. This training can be access via Health Education England.
Other fully funded workforce education and development programmes can be found on our Pharmacy Integration Programme/Fund (PhIF) webpage.
The Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) offers a range of creative learning opportunities from courses on providing pharmacy services to leadership development programmes.
Speak to your LPC to find out if any local training events are available.
4. Make contact with your LPC
Find contact details for your LPC via the LPC Online Portal. PSNC recommends that you subscribe to your LPC’s mailing list, if available.
